Walt Disney World has announced a partial schedule for the Broadway concert series that’s part of the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, which starts Jan. 17. The shows, included in regular Epcot admission, feature singers with Disney-on-stage credentials, performing in works such as “The Lion King,” “Mary Poppins,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Tarzan.”
The schedule so far, subject to change, is:
· Jan. 17: Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White (“The Lion King”) .
· Jan. 18-19: Heidi Blickenstaff (“The Little Mermaid”) and Gavin Lee (”Mary Poppins”).
· Jan. 20-21: Simmon and White.
· Jan. 22-25: Blickenstaff and Lee, including a special performance with Simmons and White on Jan. 25.
· Jan. 26, 28 and 29; Feb. 1, 2, 5, 6 and 9: Kara Lindsay (“Newsies”) and Kevin Massey (“Tarzan”) .
· Feb. 10, 12, 13, 18, 19, 22, 23 and 24 – Ashley Brown (“Mary Poppins”; “Beauty and the Beast”) and Josh Strickland (”Tarzan”).
Disney says additional performances in January and February are still to be announced. The festival runs through Feb. 24. Other activities during the 2020 will include the Green Landing Family Play Zone (featuring Wall-E and Eve), a group wall mural along World Showcase Plaza, a Figment-based scavenger hunt, walk-in art-driven photo ops and a new Le Cellier Brunch in the Canada pavilion.
